I'm going through a phase where I'm reading literature classics, and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov was one of them. I watched the movie a few months ago, and since then that I really wanted to read the book. For the ones not familiar with the story, Lolita is a 12-years-old teenager that after her mom's death, has to live with her stepfather, a paedophile that abuses her. By this, I think you can realize it's quite a strong and shocking story, and in some chapters it really is, but I found it a bit boring. Too many details and a lot of French sentences which, for me, was quite annoying since I don't know French. However, I can understand why it's such a classic. It could have been a very repulsive story, but Nabokov can make you not really hate the character of the stepfather, and only a genius could have done that. It's definitely not a book for everyone. I know some people who couldn't even finish it, and I know people who loved it. Honestly, I don't know what I think about it. I never felt like dropping it, it's definitely not on my list of favourite books ever, but I can appreciate how stunningly disturbing this book is.

"It was love at first sight, at last sight, at ever and ever sight."

"Millennials must not join TikTok, I feel very strongly about this. Very boomers joining Instagram, very ungroovy. We must pass the baton on with grace and composure."

"Millennials must not join TikTok, I feel very strongly about this. Very boomers joining Instagram, very ungroovy. We must pass the baton on with grace and composure." This is a tweet by Dolly Alderton, a journalist that I love and that it's always very funny. Obviously, this tweet is very sarcastic, but, deep down, it gives a message that I totally agree with. I'm sorry if you have TikTok, but most of the videos are just very cringy. Of course, I'm generalizing, there are some videos that are actually quite funny to watch, but the dance videos, that I assume are the most popular videos on TikTok, I just don't get them. Kids/teenagers doing them, okay. Now, people my age or older doing them is just cringe. Do you think we are to TikTok, like our parents are to Facebook? You know what I mean, right? I know that you should never say never, and maybe one day you will find me on this social media app, but now I can affirm that I will never have a TikTok account.

As I've told you before, I'm really into doing necklaces right now. It's a very easy DIY, and you get new accessories for a very cheap price. I really love beaded necklaces, and I think they're perfect for summer, they look great with swimwear or with some basic T-shirts. So just keep scrolling to learn how I do my beaded necklaces.

Some of the things you need, I'm sure you already have at home, like scissors for example. The other stuff cost me less than 5€. I found everything at a local store, and with that material, I can do a lot of necklaces and bracelets. You can also find everything at AliExpress.

As promised, today I will talk about my new analogue camera, the Miranda MS-1 Super with a 50mm 1.2 lens. As I already told you, it's fully manual (from the settings to the focus), and the truth is that I already have it for a couple of years, however, shooting daily with a point&shoot is way easier (you can read more about my point&shoot camera HERE), but the quality is also very different, that's why I'm so in love with this manual camera.

Where To Buy

A minha comprei numa loja aqui no Porto, no Sítio do Cano Amarelo.

As I already told you, I have it for a very long time. These are cameras that are not fabricated anymore, and this brand doesn't even exist now, but you just have to take a look at the different photography shops. I bought this one in a store here in Porto, Sítio do Cano Amarelo. They always have loads of cameras, but you can also find it at eBay.

Today I write from another place. Usually, I write from my mom's house, where I used to live, but now I write from a house I can call my own. You probably already knew this if you follow me on Instagram, but it's true, I moved, and I'm very excited about this new step in my life. All my life I lived with my parents, even in college I stayed with them, so this is a whole new experience for me and something that I really wanted since I'm going to live with my boyfriend. We've made this decision a couple of months ago, and I was very excited to tell you.  I made the move these last couple of days, and I took a few analogue photos, so you will see everything in the next film diary.  So, from now on, you can expect some decor-related posts, I already have a huge wishlist. I can now understand how it feels to want everything for every damn website! I'm really excited about this, even though we're living some strange times, there is always something to cheer us up.

Tenho adorado todas as sugestões que me têm dado!

As per usual by the end of the month, today I share with you my May's playlist. The days were very warm, so this is the playlist I have been listening to while I'm at the beach or the garden, these are songs that really call for summer. There are some new songs. I really liked the new album by Janeiro (a Portuguese artist), there are also a few songs from the newest Harry Style's album and the new song by Alison Mosshart, but all the other songs are older. I have also been listening to the first album by The Dead Weather, but for some reason is not available on Spotify, but 'Treat Me Like Your Mother' and '60 Feet Tall' were the songs I listened to the most. What about you? What have you been listening to this month? I really loved all your suggestions last month.

As you can tell by the title of this post, the topic today is a bit more serious. And I decided to talk about this today because, on the day that I shot this outfit, I was wearing a dress in the morning. But I heard so many unsolicited comments that I felt the need to change my outfit and wear jeans instead. Usually, I wouldn't do this, most days I'm strong enough to wear a short dress and don't care about the shit I'm going to hear, but why on earth do I have to be strong to wear a fucking piece of clothing? It blows my mind, and somedays I just don't feel as strong and don't want to deal with that kind of comments, so on that day I surrendered and wore a pair of trousers. It's sad, and please don't tell me that men can't compliment women anymore because there is a huge difference between a compliment and sexual harassment. A compliment will make you feel good, it will never make you feel afraid. A compliment is always respectful and it's never meant to intimidate you. A compliment will uplift you and not make you feel like an object. I don't think is that hard to understand this, it's very simple, we deserve respect, we are women, not objects. And I want to feel comfortable while I'm walking down the street, either if I'm wearing trousers or the shortest skirt I have in my wardrobe.

It has been a while since I last read a memoir, so I really enjoyed reading 'Face It' by Debbie Harry. As I predicted, it has a lot of unbelievable stories, from the start of the band Blondie to her career as an actress. I loved taking a look at how life was in New York in the 70s, and how it was to be friends with major artists such as Andy Warhol, David Bowie or Iggy Pop. However, something that I really like about memoirs is getting to know the writer more intimately and that was something I didn't feel while reading this book. There were a lot of topics that would be interesting to read about that were talked about in a very superficially, for example, I would love to know more about her relationship with Chris Klein or her drugs' addiction. It was very interesting but laked detail. But, anyway, if you like this kind of books, I highly recommend it, it was one of those books that I read very quickly. I also loved the artwork, from the photos (that helped to make the book a bit more personal) to her fan's illustrations. I don't think it's a book everyone will enjoy, but it sure is a very interesting story and a deep look into the life of a rockstar.

"I could be a housewife... I guess I've vacuumed a couple of times."

I think the times we lived made me much more connected with Nature. And the truth is that the days I remember as the best days, I spent around nature, either on the beach or in the countryside. You just have to take a look at these photos to understand what I'm saying, almost all of them were taken around Nature. This time, all these photos were taken with my manual analogue camera, and I loved the final result. The photos have so much more detail than when I shoot with my point & shoot. I still like it very much, and it's way easier to use, but from now on I will use my manual camera more often, I can do a post about it if you like it. I hope you like the photos, and let me know if you see any difference.

Contem-me tudo!

I think the lockdown most of us lived, left us all way more creative. We had to stay at home, so we had to come up with new ways to entertain ourselves at home. I felt like the content on social media was created more often, I just have to look at myself, I shared way more on my Instagram Stories (something that I barely did, and now I update it almost every day). And DIY's were everywhere. If you don't know, DIY means do it yourself, but right now it's much more than just a term, it's a method to create something new with our own hands. I actually have been doing this for a while. For example, these shorts used to be a pair of jeans that I didn't wear that much, so last year I just cut them off. Lately, I've also been doing some necklaces (I will do a post about them soon), and the next project is to dye a tank top to get the tie-dye effect. If you also like this kind of stuff, I recommend following TheLineUp channel on Youtube, Julia has some very cool DIY projects on it. But tell me, have you been doing any kind of DIY lately? Tell me everything!

Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious. But above all black says this - I don't bother you, don't bother me".

Here is the second and last part of the analogue photoshoot with my favourite colours. If you know me or have been following me for a while, you probably predicted that the second colour would be black. Even though it's more discreet than red (the colour I wore on the first part that you can see HERE), it's a colour that makes me feel powerful and very badass. I think this is common to a lot of people since it's a colour so used in fashion. For some reason, the little black dress is considered a wardrobe essential. And every time I speak about this colour, it comes to my mind a quote by Yohji Yamamoto that showcases exactly how I feel about black and is the perfect way to end this post: "Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious. But above all black says this - I don't bother you, don't bother me".

I really like memoirs and novels, however, sometimes feels nice to read something that we're not used to, that's why I asked my friends to borrow me some of their favourite books. The first one was 'The Island' that my good friend Li lent to me. It's one of her favourite books, so I was very curious about it. The truth is that I read it rather quickly since the story was so interesting. The book beggings with Alexis, a young girl that decides to know more about her family history, while she's vacationing in Creta. Through that family journey, we're transported to Spinalonga, a leper colony where some of her family members lived, during World War II. It really is a very interesting book, and even though there's some romance in it, it's not the typical chick-lit. I learned a lot about leprosy and the stigma associated with the disease. I also enjoy the way it is written, we really submerge into that world and there's no way you're not drawn to this mystical and intriguing place. Obviously, there's some tragedy on the book, but I didn't find it a very "heavy" book. Maybe I feel this way because I read 'Blindness' before this one which is a very brutal story, but I really think 'The Island' is the perfect summer reading.
