Bem, sou eu. E com muito orgulho.

Here's something funny: don't you think it's weird how influencers are the first people to say being a content creator is a real job but they are also the first ones to create a "real" job for themselves? They are the first to say it's a lot of work to create content but create a brand or new business. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, one of my favourite brands is owned by an influencer (yes, Djerf Avenue, I'm talking about you). There are some great brands created by influencers and for some, it was their dream job and being an influencer was just the way to earn money to do it. But I also can't help to think that some people only do this so they can validate this job of being a content creator. Being an influencer is so badly seen nowadays that I feel some of those people create all these brands so that people take them more seriously. Saying you own a brand is way cooler than saying you are an influencer. It's more respectful in a way. It's so badly seen saying you want to be an influencer or a content creator. You should want more for yourself. Capitalism thoughts us that all our lives. You should want more for yourself. More money, more responsibilities, more work and more status in your career. But you know what? I would be more than happy "just" being a content creator. To take photos, create content, be creative, collaborate with other brands and creatives, and travel the world. I don't need much more than that to feel like I'm successful. I don't want to be constantly working and not enjoy my life. Maybe in a few years, my mind will change and I will want to have my own business, who knows? But for now, do you know this TikTok where someone says: "When people ask my hobby I don't know how to explain that it's to get dressed up to go nowhere and spend money on overpriced lattes"? Well, that's me and I'm proud of that.

This book has been on my wishlist for a while now so during my trip to Edinburgh I brought it with me when I saw it for only 3£ at a second-hand bookstore. I'm talking about Atonement by Ian McEwan. In World War II England, 13-year-old Briony Tallisgond the family's housekeeper. She totally misinterprets this love affair into something much worse and this mistake causes a bunch of repercussions in everyone's lives. This book follows those repercussions. I really didn't enjoy it that much. Here's what I think it's lacking: first, you don't really care about the characters because you don't know much about them. You just don't relate to them because, even though there's a lot being written about the physical surroundings, there's not much written about the characters. Secondly, I don't think it has a good rhythm. Sometimes it's way too slow, and then way too fast. Last but not least, this book never ends up feeling real. I love when I'm reading a book and I can picture everything in my head which happens almost all the time. With this book, that didn't happen. These characters just don't come alive from the pages because they don't feel real. I'm still going to give the film adaptation a go because I've never watched it before, but I really don't recommend the book. At least, it's not my kind of book. It was a big disappointment.

Let's start the year with some photos from the last week of 2022. Once again, I don't have a lot of pictures because it rained a lot which is not the best thing when you want to create content, but anyway, I have some photos to share with you. I also want to take this post to thank you all for your support. It makes me really happy to know that are people who still read this blog and are interested in content a bit slower. I hope you have a wonderful year.

You do you.

If you have been following me for a while, you know I'm not the kind of girl who will create all these goals and resolutions for the new year. But this time I'm feeling differently. I'm not going to create a list of goals, but I'm going to do something I saw on social media that really resonated with me: a vision board. You know I believe in manifestation so this is in some kind of way just that. You create a moldboard with visual representations of what you want to achieve in life. Let's say you want to go on a trip to Paris, you add a photo of the city. Let's say you want to get that brand deal you always wanted, you add a photo of a girl who already did it as inspiration. If you want to be a dog mom/dad, add a photo of a dog. The options are endless. Just think about all your dreams and goals in life, and add them to your board. You can do it physically, but I will do it on my computer and make it my laptop wallpaper. I use my laptop every single day so I know I will see my vision board every single day. You can also add it to your phone or even print it and put it on your walls. You do you. And if your vision board doesn't become reality (which I seriously doubt), at least you got a pretty laptop wallpaper. And since this is the last post of the year, I hope you have an amazing year! See you next year.

Conhecem algum deles? E que livros estão no vosso top? Partilhem tudo comigo!

Last week of the month, so it's time for all the recaps. This year I decided to rate my favourite books of 2022. I chose only five. Five books that came with me throughout the year and that I think are really worth reading in case you want to do it next year. They don't appear in a specific order, I enjoyed each one for different reasons. I will also leave you the link for my review so you can learn more about them. Do you know any of these? And which books are on your top 5? Share it with me!

This will be the last post before Christmas so I thought I could talk a bit about this time of the year. I feel like Christmas is the happiest time for some people and the saddest time for others. I'm right there in the middle. I love the Christmas spirit. I love all the lights in the city, I love the reunion with friends, I love Christmas songs, I love thinking about all the gifts I'm going to give and also to get, the food, the Christmas markets, you get it, right? But it's also a time when I feel very nostalgic. I miss what Christmas used to be. As a child, Christmas is so much more special. And if you already lost people in your family, I'm pretty sure you can relate to this. It can be sad, and it can make you remember all those times you were so happy and you even didn't know it. And it's totally okay. I feel like nowadays everyone tries to tell us that Christmas is the happiest time of the year and that we should all be happy and smiley and it just doesn't work like that. It's okay if you're not in the Christmas spirit, and it's okay if you are. Christmas can mean so many different things. For me, Christmas is a time to relax for a bit, take my head off work, and hang out with the people I love the most. What is Christmas for you? Let's talk a bit. And if you happen to feel lonely, sad or just want someone to talk to, you can always message me here or on Instagram. I always reply. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

It has been a while since I posted photos I took during the week with my phone so here they are. Last week was super rainy so I didn't shoot lots of content but I thought it would also be interesting to see my daily life during days like that, a bit more relaxed and laid back. I hope you like the photos and wish you all an amazing week.

When it was sunny and I finally put on a cute outfit

Não me interpretem mal. Eu adoro. Deixem-me dar-vos um exemplo. Ambas as coisas. Motion, I'm coming for you.

Have you realised that we are all obsessed with old things right now? The Y2K trend is going super strong, we are all using headphones once again (even though AirPods are a thing now), and even vinyls are a huge thing right now. Don't get me wrong. I love it. I think it's great. When I say it's not that cool to be "old school", I'm talking about something else. I'm talking about people who say that just because they don't want to join progress. Yes. I'm people. I used to think that being "old school" was cool. Let me give you an example. I refuse to use those apps that work as calendars just because I want to use a physical agenda. And I can't say that I just work better with an agenda because I've never tried the app. Not even once. I'm just used to the agenda and yeah, I think it's way cooler. But on the other hand, I want to stay relevant. I don't want to be completely far away from what's going on. I mean, I don't want to be like our grandparents with cell phones. They just have no idea what's going on. Sending a message seems like the hardest task of their day. Or our parents who still think Facebook is a think. To us, that's crazy. Both things. (If you're a Gen Z, maybe your grandparents already know how to use a cellphone, so just imagine a Millennial on TikTok, some just have no idea what's going on.) See, now that you look this way is not that cool, right? I know that at some point in my life I'll stop having the strength to keep up with all the new things and I would actually be old school. Literally. But for now, I will do my best to keep up. You're never too old to learn something new. Motion, I'm coming for you.

We're at that time of the year when stores are full of collections dedicated to party season and, so easily, they can convince us that we need to buy that sparkling dress or a new jacket to wear with our new clothes. But you know what? You don't! With the right accessories, you can wear essential pieces that you already have in your wardrobe. More sustainable than this is impossible. So here are three outfits that showcase that.

The Suit

O livro em questão é o 'I Feel About My Neck' da Nora Ephron, uma jornalista, escritora e argumentista americana (provavelmente, conhecem o nome dela do filme 'When Harry Met Sally'). Adorei.

For the longest time, I've been wanting to read this book. I saw Dolly Alderton (a writer that I really love) rave about it time and time again, so when I saw it at a bookshop in Edinburgh, I immediately brought it with me. The book I'm talking about is 'I Feel Bad About My Neck' by Nora Ephron, an American journalist, writer, and award-winning filmmaker (you probably know her from When Harry Met Sally). I truly loved it. This is so my kind of book. It's a collection of essays that touch on topics such as ageing, divorce, mothering, what it means to be a woman growing older, and the indignities women suffer when they are older. As a 26-year-old girl, I can't say I related to all these essays, I mean, I don't feel bad about my neck. Yet. (The author is referring to all the wrinkles you get on your neck when you get older that are quite hard to disguise). But I loved every single one of them. And I can understand them. I would be lying if I said I don't think about ageing and growing older. Every woman does. But as these essays make you think about these topics, they also make you laugh. A lot. I mean, she even says any 26-year-old girl should always be in a bikini, I mean, should I go and put on mine right now (I'll leave the quote below for reference)? Norah totally convinced me I should. I highly recommend it. And I can't wait to read it again, once I'm older and maybe I started feeling bad about my neck. This edition I bought of the book has an introduction written by Dolly Alderton where she says she gives this book to all her friends, and I totally understand why. I would give one to each one of you reading this if I could. But I can say, buy this book. You will love it.

"Oh, how I regret not having worn a bikini for the entire year I was twenty-six. If anyone young is reading this, go, right this minute, put on a bikini, and don't take if off until you're thirty-four."

Long live the skirt era.

I'm pretty sure you already saw those TikTok videos where people show their different eras throughout the year. I don't really know how many eras I lived this year but I'm sure I'm going through a skirt era for the last couple of months. Which is actually quite funny because I used to hate skirts. I just never wore them because I hated them. I'm sure you went through that phase as a kid when your mom stopped choosing your clothes and you started doing it yourself, mine was quite hard because my mom wanted me to put me always in skirts and little dresses, and I just wanted to wear trousers. All the time. Then I started growing up and once I started showing my outfits online, I think I started incorporating skirts and dresses a bit more often, but still, most of the time I was in trousers. I think, unconsciously, I always look at skirts as something super feminine. And, to me, that was bad. I didn't want to be seen as a super feminine girl. Because, to me, that meant being fragile and innocent, and I just wanted to be the opposite of all that. But I think I finally realize that a skirt is just a skirt. That a skirt is just a piece of clothing. Honestly, I think it's super cool that men are starting to wear skirts as well. And it's totally okay to be feminine. I finally realize that being feminine can mean so many different things. It's not a garment that will showcase your true self and how you showcase your femininity. And, to be honest, I feel like a badass in my skirts. I'm having so much fun wearing them, and I never felt better. So I came from never wearing skirts to wear one almost every single day. I even think that they are way much more fun to style than trousers. I don't even know who this person is anymore, but I love her. Long live the skirt era.
