Cada vez estou mais fã da obra do Saramago e, visto que este livro é uma sequela do Ensaio sobre a Cegueira (o último livro que li do autor), decidi que este seria o seguinte livro a ler. Mais uma vez, gostei muito. Ensaio sobre a Lucidez passa-se quatro anos após o primeiro livro e retrata um dia de eleições em que 83% dos cidadãos que votaram, deixaram o seu boletim em branco. Apesar de não ter sido cometido qualquer crime, o governo interpreta isto como um ato de revolta, suspeita de conspiração e vê isto como um ataque direto à democracia pelos cidadãos da capital. Os boletins em branco são vistos com uma praga, tal como a cegueira tinha sido antes. É um livro brilhante e, já como Saramago nos habitou, bastante sarcástico. A história é quase como um espelho do processo democrático atual e toda a corrupção que, inevitavelmente, vem com o poder. É, sem dúvida, uma sátira ao governo e à política. O escritor tem uma forma muito própria de escrever, mas eu adoro-a e, sem dúvida, que se habituam à mesma. Se lerem o 'Ensaio sobre a Cegueira' então têm mesmo de ler este livro também.

I'm becoming such a fan of José Saramago and since this book is the sequel of Blindness (the book I was reading before by this author), I decided to read it as well. Once again, I loved it. Seeing takes place four years after Blindness, and the story initiates on election day when 83% of the voters in the capital cast blank votes. Despite no crime have been committed, the government interpret this as an act of revolt, suspects of conspiracy, and sees it as a direct assault on democracy by the citizens of the capital. All the blank ballot papers are seen as a new plague, just like blindness was before. It's a brilliant book and, just like Saramago got us used to, it's a very sarcastic novel. The book holds up a mirror to the modern democratic process and the corruption that inevitably comes with power. It's a beautifully written satire on government and politics. And even though Saramago has very peculiar writing, you will definitely get used to it. If you like Blindness, I highly suggest reading this one.

Quando penso no Inverno, o tecido que imediatamente me vem à cabeça é a malha. No Verão, pelo contrário, é o linho. É um tecido super popular nesta altura do ano, as lojas enchem-se com diferentes peças de roupa neste tecido e eu adoro usar camisas em linho. Na verdade, é de homem, mas para quem gosta de roupa um pouco mais oversized é perfeita. É de uma marca portuguesa e, sinceramente, se pudesse, comprava em todas as cores possíveis. When I think about Winter, the fabric that immediately comes to my mind is knit. If I think about Summer, I always think about linen. It's a very popular fabric during this time of the year, you can find loads of pieces in this fabric in stores, and I really love wearing linen shirts. The fabric is very light and breezy, and it's a natural fibre (something that I always pay attention to when I buy something). All of this to tell you that I found the perfect linen shirt. Actually, it's from the men's department, but if you like oversized clothing, this one is perfect. It's by a Portuguese brand, and, honestly, if I could, I would buy it in every single colour. Mas acho que tendo de escolher ia para o segundo, porque adoro a combinação do justo com algo mais oversized, e o sétimo porque adoro aquele macacão. It has been a while since I last wrote this kind of post, so here is a roundup with some of the outfits I wore lately for you to tell me which one is your favourite. I have to confess that is quite hard for me to choose one, I felt really good in any of them which is a good sign, it means that all of them are 100% my style and that are exactly what I like to wear. But if I really had to choose I would go with the second one, because I really like the juxtaposition of tight clothes with the oversized silhouette, and the seventh one, because I really like that jumpsuit. A última vez que fiz este tipo de posts estávamos em pleno confinamento, por isso, passado todos estes meses, estava na hora de vos trazer mais um post com algumas das fotografias que tenho no telemóvel. Sabe bem passar o dia na praia, sabe bem finalmente podermos ir a um restaurante, sabe bem finalmente podermos estar com os nossos amigos. Espero que gostem das fotografias e, agora de estamos, lentamente, a voltar ao normal, não se esqueçam de não tomar tudo por garantido e aproveitar os momentos.

The last time I did one of these posts, we were in lockdown, so after all these months, it was about time to bring you another post with some photos I have on the camera roll of my phone. It feels good to spend the day by the beach, it feels good finally being able to go to a restaurant, feels good to be with our friends. I hope you like these photos and, now that we're slowly going back to normal, don't take everything for granted and enjoy the moment.



Depois de há uns meses ter lido o Livro do Desassossego, fiquei com muita vontade de ler mais obras do Fernando Pessoa. Descobri este livro em casa e foi por aqui que decidi começar. Poesias, como o nome indica, é um livro com vários poemas da autoria de Pessoa. Como já tinha dito, poesia não é algo que leio frequentemente e, por isso, nunca consigo formar uma opinião sobre a mesma. Acho que é algo tão pessoal e subjetivo que decidi partilhar com vocês um dos meus poemas favoritos deste livro. Eu adorei esta obra e a vontade de conhecer melhor o trabalho de Pessoa continua.

After reading a couple of months ago The Book of Disquiet, I really wanted to read more books by Fernando Pessoa. I found this book at my place, and so I decided to read it. Poesias is a collection of poems written by Pessoa. Like I've said before, poetry is not something I read frequently, so I can never form an opinion about it. I think it's something so personal and subjective that I decided to share instead my favourite poem from this book. I really loved it, and I still want to read more books by Pessoa.

Quase que parece que esta semana é dedicada a fotografia. Ontem partilhei com vocês os meus rolos favoritos e hoje é dia para mais um post com fotógrafos que sigo no Instagram. Como já vos disse, são contas que me inspiram imenso e, desta vez, é um pouco diferente, pois escolhi fotógrafos que se dedicam ao analógico. Podem então ver as contas escolhidas em baixo. It almost feels like this week is decided to photography. Yesterday, I shared with you my favourite films, and today I'll share with you some photographers that I follow on Instagram. As I've told you before, there are accounts that inspire me a lot, and this time is a bit different since I chose photographers that dedicate to analogue. Na semana passada, disse-vos que estava a pensar escrever este post e aqui está ele: uma review dos rolos 35mm que já usei. Tenho experimentado alguns e já consegui formar uma opinião sobre cada um deles. Neste post podem descobrir qual o meu favorito, o que menos gostei, bem como ver fotografias tiradas com cada um deles. E já agora, também têm algum favorito? Last week, I told you I was thinking about writing this post, and here it is my review on my favourite 35mm films. I've been using a few different ones, and I already have an opinion on each one of them. 1. Kodak ColorPlus 200

Hoje em dia, este é o rolo mais barato da Kodak, mas é também o meu favorito. É bem fácil de encontrar e as cores ficam bem naturais e realistas. É o que mais uso e acho que tem uma excelente relação qualidade/preço.

This film is the cheapest offered by Kodak nowadays, but it's also my favourite. It's very easy to find, and the colours are very natural and realistic. It's the one that I used the most, and I think it has a really good quality/price relation.



Como prometido, aqui está a segunda parte da sessão fotográfica analógica (podem ver a primeira parte AQUI). Estas foram também fotografadas em Serralves, mas desta vez na Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira. É engraçado como a moda e a arquitetura têm tanto em comum. Uma obtém inspiração da outra e vice-versa. Na verdade, os meus designers de moda favoritos são os que exageram proporções, que prestam bastante atenção à construção e forma, e que trabalham o tecido quase como que blocos de construção. Li algo há uns tempos que achei bastante interessante, "tanto a moda como a arquitetura dão uma espécie de abrigo às pessoas em diferentes dimensões sociais". E, também na altura de escolher os outfits para esta sessão, inspirei-me bastante na arquitetura. Acho que o padrão às riscas funcionou muito bem com as linhas deste edifício. Como a Coco Chanel disse: "Moda é arquitetura. É tudo uma questão de proporções." Espero que gostem das fotos,

As promised, here is the second part of the analogue photoshoot (you can see the first part HERE). These photos, once again, were shot at the Serralves Foundation, but this time at Manoel de Oliveira's house. It's funny how fashion and architecture always go hand in hand. One gets inspiration from another, and vice versa. Some of my favourite designers are actually the ones who exaggerate proportions, who pay a lot of attention to construction and shape, and that use his materials almost as building blocks. I read something a while ago about this that I found very interesting," both fashion and architecture provide shelter for people in different social dimensions". And, while choosing my outfits for these photos, I was also very inspired by architecture. I really think the striped pattern worked really well with the straight lines of the building. As Coco Chanel once said: "Fashion is architecture, it is a matter of proportions." I hope you like the photos.


Hoje é dia de partilhar com vocês mais um livro e, como já vos tinha dito, andei a ler 'Os Maias' de Eça de Queiroz. Na minha altura de escola, este não era um dos livros obrigatórios, por isso nunca me interessei muito. É um livro enorme, por isso demorei mais tempo que o normal a acabá-lo, mas, finalmente, posso dizer que li mais um clássico da literatura portuguesa. 'Os Maias' passa-se em Lisboa e apresenta-nos três gerações da família Maia. Pedro da Maia suicida-se após a sua mulher o deixar por outro homem e o seu filho, Carlos da Maia, é criado pelo seu avô, Afonso da Maia. É um romance, sem dúvida, mas toca também em temas como política, filosofia, literatura, mostrando-nos como era a sociedade portuguesa no século XIX e sempre com bastante sentido de humor e ironia. Percebo perfeitamente quando muitas pessoas dizem que o autor exagera no detalhe das suas descrições. Realmente, senti que existia muito informação que não acrescentava nada ao enredo principal, mas ao longo da sua leitura vamo-nos habituando ao seu estilo de escrita e a perceber a magia nela. Uma coisa que adorei no livro é como Lisboa está tão presente. Dá mesmo para seguir as personagens pelsa diferentes ruas da cidade e alguns dos sítios que visitam, ainda existem nos dias de hoje. Foi um livro que gostei muito e deixou-me com vontade de ler mais obras do Eça de Queiroz.

So today is time to share another book, and, as I've told you before, I was reading 'The Maias' by Eça de Queiroz. It used to be a mandatory book for reading in high school, but, at the time, it wasn't, so I was never interested in it. It's a huge book, so it took me longer than usual to finish it, but I can finally say that I've read another Portuguese literature classic. 'The Maias' is set in Lisbon, and it tells the story of three generations of the Maias family. Pedro da Maia kills himself after his wife leaves him for another man, and young Carlos da Maia, his son is raised by his grandfather, Afonso da Maia. It's a novel, but it also touches important topics like politics, philosophy, literature, and showcases the Portuguese society back in the 19th century, always with a very good sense of humour and some irony. I can understand why some people say that the author gives way too much detail in his descriptions. I did felt like sometimes there was some information that wasn't really needed and it didn't add much to the main story, but while you're reading the book you get used to his style of writing and start to understand the magic in it. Something else that I really like about the book was how Lisbon is so alive in it. I mean, you can really stroll around in the city streets with these characters, and some of the places they visit, still exist today. It was a book that I really liked, and now I just want to read more books by Eça de Queiroz.

Tenho fotografado, diariamente, em analógico, mas já tinha saudades de criar algo diferente. Como já vos tinha antes, a ideia é todos os meses fazer uma sessão fotográfica em analógico com um conceito diferente daquilo que normalmente partilho por aqui e esta é a deste mês. O conceito para a sessão fotográfica foi bastante fácil de encontrar. Temos sempre fotografado na natureza, quer seja na praia, como no campo. Eu adoro esse tipo de fotografias, mas queríamos criar algo diferente, então o tema, desta vez, foi arquitetura. Tínhamos vários sítios em mente, mas o escolhido foi a Fundação de Serralves. Além do espaço ter um jardim enorme, tem diferentes edifícios com linhas arquitetónicas lindíssimas. Estas primeiras fotografias foram fotografadas na Casa Cor-de-Rosa. É um edifício mesmo muito bonito, construído em 1931 e é um dos poucos exemplares da arquitetura Art Déco no nosso país. Eu gostei imenso do resultado. E vocês, o que acham? Espero que gostem e fiquem atentos porque tenho uma segunda parte para vos mostrar.

I have been shooting on film daily, but I missed creating something different. As I've told you before, my idea is to, every month, do an analogue photoshoot with a different concept from what I usually share, and the photoshoot of this month is here. The concept for this photoshoot was very easy to find. We have been shooting around nature, either on the beach or in the countryside. I love those kinds of photos, but we wanted something different, so this time the theme was architecture. We had some places in mind, but the chosen one was the Serralves Foundation. Besides having a huge garden, it also has some different buildings with gorgeous architecture lines. These first photos were taken at the Pink House. It's a very beautiful building, built in 1931, and it's one of the few examples of Art Déco architecture here in Portugal. I really love the result of these photos. But what do you think? A inspiração vem de qualquer lado, já disse isto várias vezes e volto-o a dizer e, por vezes, inconscientemente, somos influenciados pelas coisas mais mundanas. O meu estilo, neste momento, está bastante minimalista e, se tivesse de escolher uma década, diria que está muito anos 90. Shoulder bags, calções bermuda, crop tops, bonés, é tudo o que tenho usado nestes últimos dias. O estilo minimalista é algo que sempre gostei, mas estou a ver novamente as primeiras temporadas de Friends (não me perguntem quantas vezes já vi, nem eu mesma sei) e acho que, inconscientemente, é algo que me tem inspirado muito. Já tinha dito que adoro os outfits do Chandler nas primeiras temporadas, mas tanto o estilo da Monica como o da Rachel também gosto muito. Tenho visto também, de vez em quando, alguns episódios de Sex and the City (outra série dos anos 90) e se há algo pela qual a Carrie é conhecida é pelo seu estilo. O meu estilo não é nada parecido com o dela, mas toda a vibe dos anos 90 da série inspira-me muito. E se ainda assim estão a precisar de mais alguma inspiração para outfits dos anos 90, procurem imagens da princesa Diana. Inspiration comes from everywhere, and, sometimes, unconsciously, we're influenced by the most mundane things. My style is very minimal right now, and if I had to choose a decade, I would say it's very 90s. Shoulder bags, Bermuda shorts, crop tops, baseball caps, that's all I've been wearing these days. The minimal style is something that I always loved, but I'm watching the first seasons of Friends all over again (don't ask me how many times I've watched it, I lost count), and I think that maybe, unconsciously, that has inspired me a lot. As I already said before, I really love Chandler's outfits in the first seasons, but both Monica and Rachel also have a great style that I find very inspiring. Once in a while, I also watch some episodes of Sex and the City, and if there's something Carrie is known for is her style. I mean, my style is nothing like Carrie's, but the whole 90s vibe of the show inspires me very much. And if you're still in need of some 90s outfit inspiration, just search for some Princess Diana's outfits.
