Não sei se alguma vez mencionei isto por aqui, mas eu trabalho como freelancar há mais de um ano. Como tudo, tem os seus prós e contras e é sobre isso que vos venho falar hoje. Para mim, a grande vantagem é a liberdade que me dá. Consigo conciliar com o trabalho do blog e do instagram, posso viajar quando quiser e posso trabalhar de onde eu quiser, o que significa que às vezes posso estar em viagem e a trabalhar também. Ter esta liberdade pode ser o sonho de muitas pessoas, mas também tem as suas desvantagens. Ser trabalhador independente significa que tens de ter muita disciplina. És tu que tens de fazer tudo, por isso tens de ter muita organização e motivação e, por vezes, encontrar o balanço perfeito entre o trabalho e a vida pessoal pode ser bastante difícil. Podem ler ESTE post que eu escrevi há alguns meses com algumas dicas para trabalhar em casa que me ajudaram imenso. E, claro, a maior desvantagem é que não é tão estável como um trabalho das 9 às 5. Eu tenho sorte porque trabalho todos os meses com o mesmo cliente, mas não é o caso para todos os freelancers. E aqui está um olhar mais de perto da vida de um freelancer. 

I don't know if I ever mention this before, but I've been working as a freelancer for over a year now. Like everything else, it has its pros and cons, and that's what I'm going to talk about today. For me, the biggest pro is the freedom I have. I can still manage the blog/Instagram work, I can travel whenever I like, and I can work from anywhere, which means sometimes I can be travelling and also working. Having the freedom to work as you choose is most people's dream, but it's not without its drawbacks. Being self-employed means that you need to have a lot of self-discipline. You are your own boss which means you have to do everything yourself. You have to be incredibly disciplined and self-motivated to get everything done, and sometimes reaching the perfect work-life balance can be quite difficult. You can read THIS post I wrote a few months ago with some tips for working from home that really helped me. The biggest downside is that it's not as reliable as a 9-5 job. I'm lucky because I work for the same client every month, but that's not the case for all the freelancers. And here is a look into a freelancer's life, let me know if you can relate.

Mais uma sessão fotográfica analógica com a qual estou muito feliz com o resultado final. O cenário, desta vez, foi a praia e o tema central foi a ganga. É algo que todos nós temos no nosso armário e sem o qual não sabemos muito bem funcionar. Quer sejam calças, casacos, camisas ou vestidos, é algo com o qual nos sentimos confortáveis e quase que se assemelha a uma segunda pele. Por isso, aqui fica a minha homenagem à ganga. Espero que gostem das fotos tanto quanto eu. E fiquem atentos que esta é apenas a primeira parte, vou publicar mais fotos desta sessão fotográfica ainda esta semana.

Another analogue photoshoot and I couldn't be happier with the final result. The chosen background was the beach, and the main theme was denim. It's something that we all have in our wardrobes, and that we can't live without. Whether it's jeans, jackets, shirts or dresses, it's something that we feel comfortable in, and it almost feels like a second skin. So here is my ode to denim. I hope you like the photos as much as I do. And stay tuned, because this is only the first part, I'll be posting more photos from this photoshoot this week.




Depois de vários anos a usar meias bem baixas para não se verem com as sapatilhas, rendi-me à combinação de sapatilhas com meias, especialmente meias brancas. E tudo começou quando comprei estas sapatilhas e vi algumas imagens da campanha em que alguns dos modelos usavam estas sapatilhas com meias brancas. Desde então que tenho adorado a combinação. Por vezes, estas pequenas mudanças podem ser bastante significativas para o nosso estilo pessoal. Para já, tenho usado apenas com as minhas Chuck Taylor, mas ainda quero experimentar meias brancas com as minhas Vans e também meias pretas com loafers. O próximo passo será, provavelmente, meias coloridas e com algum tipo de padrão, mas, para já, as meias brancas vieram para ficar.

After many years of wearing very small socks for them not to show up while wearing sneakers, I'm now obsessed with the combo of sneakers with long socks, especially white socks. Everything started when I bought these sneakers, and saw some campaign photos where the models were wearing these sneakers with white socks. And since then that I've been pretty obsessed with the combo. Sometimes this very small changes can be quite significant to your personal style. I've been wearing them with my Chuck Taylor, but I still want to try white socks with my Vans, and also black socks with loafers. The next step will probably be colourful socks or with some kind of print, but for now white socks it will be.

Acabei este livro ontem e tinha mesmo de vos falar sobre ele, porque foi dos melhores livros que li nos últimos tempos. Christodora é o nome de um edifício no East Village em Nova Iorque e, neste livro, seguimos a história de várias personagens residentes neste edifício. Apesar de serem personagens bem diferentes, acabam sempre por se interceptarem, o que torna este livro muito cativante. Além da história fantástica, o Christodora retrata um período histórico bastante interessante. Mostra como as pessoas lutaram contra a epidemia do HIV e a tristeza que este infligiu às pessoas e como mudou as suas vidas. Toca também em temas como o abuso de drogas, doenças mentais, família e a complexidade das relações humanas. O livro abrange um período de 40 anos e a história salta entre as perspectivas das diferentes personagens, o que pode ser um pouco confuso ao início, mas assim que conhecem todas as personagens fica bastante fácil de compreender e eu acabei por adorar como o escritor salta entre as diferentes personagens. Eu sei que estamos apenas em Fevereiro, mas tenho a certeza que este será um dos meus livros favoritos deste ano.

I finished this book yesterday and really had to talk to you about it because it was one of my favourite reads lately. Christodora is the name of an iconic building in the East Village, New York. In this book, we follow the lives of several characters that live in this building. They are very different characters, but, somehow, they intercept during the story, which makes this a very interesting book. Besides the great story, Christodora is anchored in a very interesting historical context. It shows how people fought against the AIDS epidemic and what horror and sadness that inflicted upon people. It also touches on topics as drug addiction, mental illness, family, and the complexity of relationships. The book spans across 40 years, and the story jumps around in time from one character's perspective to another what can be a bit confusing at first, but once you start to know the characters, you get really into it, and I ended up loving how the writer changes from one character to the other. I know it's only February, but I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of my favourite books of the year.

Este é o último post de Berlim, mas tinha de partilhar com vocês as fotografias analógicas que tirei por lá. Adorei o resultado e acho que transmitem na perfeição a energia da cidade. Gosto tanto de fotografia analógica que já é raro viajar com a câmara digital, pelo menos nas minhas últimas viagens tenho apenas levado a minha câmara analógica e não me arrependo nada. Espero que gostem das fotos. E para mais dicas sobre Berlim podem ler ESTE post.

This is the last post about Berlin, but I really had to share with you the analogue photos I took over there. I really love how they turned out, and they really captured the energy of the city. I really love analogue photography, and, lately, I've been travelling only with this camera, the digital camera stays at home, and I don't regret it at all. I hope you like the photos.
