Já por aqui falei de quanto gosto do estilo das mulheres parisienses e de como a Jeanne Damas é uma das minhas girl crushes. Por isso, quando vi o livro dela (e da Lauren Bastide) à venda na Urban Outfitters em Londres, não hesitei em trazê-lo comigo. Resumindo, o livro fala-vos de 20 mulheres que vivem na capital, tal como um pequeno guia da cidade. As mulheres parisienses sempre me fascinaram e aprendi imenso com este livro. Ora aqui estão cinco coisas que aprendi com o 'In Paris'.
I've already told you how much I love Parisian women's style and how Jeanne Damas is one of my girl crushes. So when I saw her (and Lauren Bastide) book for sale at Urban Outfitters when I went to London, I had to bring a copy with me. Basically, it talks about 20 women who live in the capital and it also works a bit as a guide to the city. Parisian women always fascinated me and I learned quite a lot with this book. So here are five things I've learned with 'In Paris'.
Red Lipstick Is Always The Answer
Quer sejas morena, loira, ruiva ou qualquer outra cor, batom vermelho vai sempre ficar bem. E se queres trazer ao de cima a rapariga parisiense que há em ti, deves sempre usá-lo com uma pele quase sem maquilhagem. Uma pele natural com umas lábios vermelhos é a resposta para tudo.
You can be a brunette, blonde, ginger or anything in between, a red lipstick will always look great on you. And if you want to channel the real Parisian girl in you, you should always use it with a almost naked skin. A very natural makeup with a red lip is the way to go.
You Should Not Be Afraid Of Ageing
Para os comuns mortais, envelhecer é algo que devemos retardar ou até mesmo evitar ao máximo possível. No entanto, as mulheres parisienses abraçam a idade como ninguém. De facto, até desprezam qualquer tipo de botox, eye lifts ou lip fillers. A beleza natural é valorizada e um dos seus grandes truques é usar cremes com protecção solar todos os dias (mesmo em dias nublados).
To us ordinary mortals, ageing is something we should delay and even avoid as long as possible. However, Parisian women embrace age like no one else. In fact, they despise any kind of botox, eye lifts or lip fillers. Natural beauty is always appreciated and one of their tricks is to always use moisturizers with SPF (even on cloudy days).
You Need A Trench Coat, Period

Parisians Love Their Neighborhood
Apesar de Paris ser uma cidade bastante grande, as parisienses adoram o seu bairro ou o seu arrondissement como elas lhe chamam. Adoram o sítio onde vivem e passam a maior parte do seu tempo lá. Fazem as suas compras lá, encontram-se com os amigos lá e por aí fora. Gostam de sentir que vivem numa pequena vila onde o rapaz do café local já sabe qual vai ser o seu pedido.
Although Paris is quite a big city, Parisians love their neighboorhood or their arrondissement how they called them. They love the area they live in and actually spend almost all their time there. They shop there, they meet up with friends there and so on. They love feeling like they live in a little village where the guy at the local cafe already knows what they want to order.
All The Clichés Are True
O cabelo despenteado, a maquilhagem quase nula, a despreocupação com aquilo que é mais mundano, todos os clichés são verdade e a mulher parisiense vive neles. Afinal de contas, são todas estas coisas que nos inspiram e não apenas o seu estilo incrível.
The messy hair, the no makeup look, their easy way of living, all the clichés are true and the Parisian women live of them. After all, these are all the things that inspire us not only their amazing sense of style.
